Yeah I'm keeping it at 5-6 year old levels right now and watching where he struggles and where he cruises through easily. I am impressed though with his ability to sound out or spell out the word then say it clearly and ask me or Karen what it means if he doesn't understand it.

I got out my Hardy Boys and Choose Your Own Adventures for my 8-yr-old boy. I don't think he's ready for the Hardy Boys... might be more of a 9 or 10 thing. He is enjoying the CYOA books, but not voraciously. I was reading some of it out loud to the younger sister and noticed some pretty advanced words for an 8-yr-old. Checked the inside cover of the CYOA and it said "10 and up". So on second thought, I need to check on the Hardy Boys... maybe they would be better for an 8-yr-old.

If you wanted to be a bad dad, you could have another kid and then, instead of Harry Potter, throw "How to watch your brother die" at him. Just kidding. Give him the Hardy Boys! They rule when you're under 10.
