Happy Leap Year!

Posted by Scott in entertainment, television, video games

I’m getting this last post out on the last (extra) day of February to celebrate Leap Year! WooHoo!

My Game programming class came to an end last night and I am completely exhausted and happy. My game turned out pretty darn good and the amount of programming and concepts that I learned in that class was well worth it. My game storyline changed from what I mentioned in a previous post from a “pac-man” style game to a cross between “1942″ and “space invaders.” In it, Jaden the Jedi Master (the protagonist) moves left and right at the bottom of the screen and fires white/blue/purple animated lightning bolts from his hands upward towards enemy fighters (the antagonists) that are dropping different sized laser bombs towards him at random speeds. The enemies are also moving at random speeds from the left and the right. Here’s a screen grab of the game.

In between work, school and anything related to the kid’s life, Karen and I have been working through finishing up the firstĀ  three seasons of the L Word and we just recently started watching Heroes! WOW, this show is so awesome and geared towards anyone even remotely calling themselves a fanboy/girl. Don’t get me wrong I loved the X-Men movies (even liked the third one just not as much as the first two) but this show is what the X-Men should and could have been. It brought back so many of those childhood memories of reading all the early issues of the X-Men comics including the origins, the internal and external struggles of the individuals and teams, concerns of identity and loss of individuality. To all my friends who were constantly getting on my case for not watching this show, I see now what I was missing.
