House

Posted by Scott in family

The groove pad is coming along just as nice as can be and we should have everything finalized by October 17. Until then here’s some basic info for you krezzykats:

- The place is still in Long Beach and it’s not far from our Belmont Shore place
- It has a nice size front and back yard
- It has four bedrooms
- It’s has a two-car garage
- The owner was another Star Wars geek!

Once things get going we’ll have a little house warming party/bbq/party. If anyone would like to donate some of their time and (wo)man-power to help out with the move we’ll be moving in the weekend of October 22. I’ll send an e-mail out soon with all the details. Thanks to everyone who has helped us through this very stressful time.

Thanks Monique. We should have everything moved in by the end of October and we’ll have some sort of social ho-down to kick off the big move.

The interior looks really elegant. Congrats on this find & further congrats if you can at maintain or improve on the taste of the previous owner (i.e., stay away from 1960s decorating idioms)!

Thank you Arlen. You may happen to notice any decorating or remodeling mags that mid-century modern is all the rage now and has been for the past year or more. Brad Pitt just bought a very cool mid century mod pad in malibu decorated with items from that era. You will start to see it even more and more. I’ve noticed a few tvs shows sets have the influence. One show I don’t watch anymore because it’s not funny but does have an authentic mid century home is Joey. Our new home IS mid centery styled and that’s why we picked it. Our 60’s furniture (most from Ikea) will fit right in. Besides, it’s not exactly cost effective to throw everything out and buy normal stuff just because it isn’t one person’s taste. Many of our friends dig our place and most importanly so do we. But you could be right. Maybe you haven’t been to even Target lately, much of the new furniture and accents are all midcentury modern (50’s, 60’s, 70’s). So once the latest trend is at Target, I guess it is time to move on.
But no, we’re not done with this obsession yet. We’ve only just begun. Wait until you see our new mod mulit media room in the new place. Let us have our fun.

No, of course not . . . I’m just working my way down a list of my SoCal friends, alienating them one by one! I have to tell you though, that I chuckled a little that you would bother to rebut my difference in taste. And that you would try to sway me with a Bandwagon argument (though I did think Brad Pitt was good in “Troy”). Just keep in mind that if you ever visit my place, you are free to criticize my cobbling together of this’s-n’that’s from here and there that makes up my interior decorating. My hat IS off to you for pursuing unity of theme, even though I don’t favor the theme myself!

Hi have to admit Arlen, you made me chuckle alot! :-) thank gawd cuz I thought I was gonna have to get mid-evil on your ass, now that’s an era you’d appreciate! :-)I don’t care what anybody says, you ARE funny! And I wasn’t trying to ’sway’ you with the bandwagon pitch, just thought you may not be aware of the latest trends, no insult intended, I know that stuff does not concern you. I wasn’t even aware of the bandwagon when became more interested two years ago. Anyway, so, you liked Troy eh? I haven’t seen it. I tivo’d it but it mysteriously disappeared….Scott?

    Well, we’ll see ya around…
    Have a bitchen day :-)
